My suggestion is to go to the website of your state's bar association. Here in RI we have a volunteer lawyer service. Your state's bar association might also have a list of lawyers who are willing to do pro bono work.
Type in prepaid legal services and your state in the browser and you will get a hit matter of several referrals.
Thats a good question my husband would like to know also. We also live in Virginia and have had no luck finding anything handling custody.
