Do you think abortion should be legal? in what cases should a woman be able to have an abortion?

I had my baby when I was only 14, it was actually a result of rape, my parents wanted me to get an abortion but I kept her, my daughter turned into a very beautiful and smart girl and we have a very very close relationship. She's 13 now and I've been very devoted to her and I love her more than anything. But I still feel like abortion should be a personal choice and a woman should do what she feels she wants in regards to her own beliefs and circumstances. Do you think abortion should be legal? In what cases do you think a woman should be able to have an abortion? Do you think in every case the baby ';needs to be born'; and if so why?Do you think abortion should be legal? in what cases should a woman be able to have an abortion?
wow, my son was born through rape also but I was 22. Before that, I had been a virgin. You probably were too as you were so young...

I don't believe in abortion because I believe in God and He has a plan for everyone. There are other reasons why I take this position, but it's really spiritual and i cannot write it here.

But... if a woman is going to die because the fetus is growing in her fallopian tube (ectopic pregnancy) a woman should be able to choose whether or not they want to try and reposition the fetus if possible or they should be able to choose whether or not they want to die for their child.... but if they died..... so would baby.

***obviously people don't understand***

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THIS AND RASH KILLING IS THAT YOU ARE TRYING TO SAVE AT LEAST ONE LIFE AND NOT TRYING TO THINK ABOUT KILLING A LIFE OUT OF SELFISHNESS OR FEAR AS IS SO COMMON.Do you think abortion should be legal? in what cases should a woman be able to have an abortion?
Abortion is the choice of the woman, and it should remain legal. Abortion is always going to happen whether it's legal or not, and I would want the women who choose to have an abortion to have a sterile and safe environment to do so instead in a back alley by someone who isn't trained to perform the procedure. There should never be a case where a woman is denied an abortion (except if the fetus could survive outside of the womb. I find that unethical unless the mother is in danger). If someone doesn't like it, then don't get one. Let other people decide for themselves, though.
Hate to break it to you, but abortion IS legal.

I'm glad your situation proved to be a positive one for you, and that you gained a treasured addition to your life ;)

But I agree with you, having a child, or not having a child is a personal choice.

I am pro-life, and pro-choice.
Why didn't you have an abortion?

I'm guessing it's because you think abortion is wrong.

And I'm guessing you think abortion is wrong because you think it's the taking of innocent human life. What other reason could a person have, for thinking abortion is wrong?

So, it makes no sense for a person who thinks abortion is wrong to support its legality.

Because if they think it's wrong, the ONLY reason why they think so is because it's murder.

In which case, they should be against ANYONE doing it -- not just against themselves doing it.

.
Yes, abortion is wrong. The Lord has said, ';You shall not murder,'; (Exodus 20:13). The life that is growing within the mother is a child, a baby. The Bible looks at the life in the womb as a child.: Exodus 21:22 says, ';And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide,';
Every case every baby should be born - They never did anything wrong and its only punishing the child. Not the person who hurt you or the birth control someone forgot to take. I think Adoption should be more appealing to women. I think men should be involved (the fathers) if the mother wants an abortion, its not just the woman's child.

I think this way because you never know what you're killing. The cure for Cancer could be growing in your womb... and you would never know.
We'll see your parents didn't force you to have an abortion so why should a women be forced to not have an abortion. secondly your daughter got lucky. she could of grown up in a home where she wasn't loved, where she would fall into an adoption, where lets face it doesn't work for the most part. most the ppl i know do it for the money and treat them like servants.
Note: In the first paragraph ';you'; is females in general.

Every baby has the right to life. There is no reason to have an abortion; you can give the baby up for adoption if you can't care for it.

Some think that they are saving the baby from hardship; doing it a favor or sorts. How is killing it and removing the only hope of joy doing it a favor?

I commend you for keeping your baby even though it was hard. May God bless you!
my mother made me get one when i was 16. I wanted to keep it, but i was only 16.and i think a woman should be able to choose for herself. (for any reason) its really none of my business what others do. i have a lot to handle with my child. A woman has her reasons and it is her body.

Jennifer you are so wrong....but your source tells me why you think you are so right
Hello :)

Absolutely! No one should be forced to have a child they do not want, that is just cruel. In all cases someone should be able to choose abortion, but it still should not be used as an alternative to birth control.

Peace :)
It is legal, and I think it should stay legal. Your own circumstances cannot be compared to anyone else's. In the end it is a matter of personal choice. It seems you made the choice that was right for you.
i believe in the sacredness of all life and am pro-life

however if the mothers life is at risk, then the life of the child must be terminated, this procedure is not seen as an abortion to the catholic church
Yes. A woman should be able to have an abortion whenever she chooses too.

A woman should have complete control of her own body; restricting her choices is equivalent to enslaving her.
I am pro choice. I cannot think of anything more barbaric than forcing a woman or young girl to gestate unwillingly. It's equivalent to rape.
abortion is murder what kind of sick person kills an unborn child its complelely wrong it shouldnt be legal in any case dont get an abortion if u really dont want it give it up for adoption so it can live
Tell your 13 year old daughter that story, and ask her how she feels about it.

Murder is murder, no matter how big or small a person might be.
That is very commendable that you kept your daughter and raised her. Love between a parent and child really doesn't have to have anything to do with the way that they were conceived. Children are a human beings and are capable and willing to return the love that they have a right to have anyway. I'm so glad to hear of a positive experience such as yours. No, I never believed in abortion, it is positively wrong and really is murder. Just because something is legal does not make it right. People have ';legalized'; many things to suit themselves, and murder is one of them. We did not make human life so don't have the right to take it away even if it's a small one. It can really be a tough problem if the pregnancy was a result of rape, however there are still alternatives even to this without killing the baby. Two wrongs never make a right. If the baby cannot be kept by the mother at all, then there are ways to find an adoptive family. My first son was born out of wedlock when I was was 15 years old. His name is Chris. His father was about 10 years older than I was. I never even considered abortion, it is a terrible atrocity. The little life that was growing inside was to be protected and nurtured. He is now 40 years old, married with 2 children, living in Michigan and is a school teacher. I've had 4 other sons after him, after I was married to a different man when I was 18, but Chris is somehow special, I think it is because of all that I endured to keep him while at such a young age myself. It is possible for a situation that starts off in a negative way to end up for the best with time and patience. * Edit : What really makes the situation even worse is the fact that pregnancy is so preventable, most of the time that is, with the exception of rape,or just being naive about life. A ';real man';?- if a man does not wish to be bothered with the responsibility of contributing to raise his own child, then don't start one. Women's rights?- If a woman does not want a child to take care of, then choose not to get pregnant. The choice is there, it really is not that hard to figure out. Then they won't feel the temptation to kill just out of the inconvenience of having another life to care for, fear of the unknown, or just plain self interest. Where do some people draw the line, seriously,: Would they think that those with a disabilities should be killed, or elderly people that were having care issues were done away with? What about those who are homeless or unemployable and a drain on their economy ?After all, if the selfish mind and heart goes far enough, they could excuse anything for the reason of their own convenience. Just think : no more disability benefits paid out, no more social security benefit money being used, hospitals, or nursing homes, no charitable contributions or facilities, so that they could live'; free'; from being bothered with others who get in the way of their convenient and egocentric lifestyles. Some of these same people who think abortion is ok, would also likely say that we need wars to'; thin out the population';. Just don't let anything affect them personally.* Jennifer and her thumbs up need to check to see if they have any conscience left at all, or even understand what it means. Doesn't sound like it.
I am one who is nuetral in a topic like this. I feel it is both wrong and right. I feel that every baby has the right to be born, especially if you were willingly having sex with someone. As my mom always told me, If I am responsible/ready enough to have sex, then I can take the responsibility of having a child and take care of it on my own. But if it was rape, then I think that you should be able to decide if you want it or not. But again I have to agree that it should be a woman's choice, but when given that freedom, women take advantage of it even though they knew what they were getting themselves into
To a yes or no question, I say no.

To a gray question, I say that too many people don't think that there should be any limitations on abortion. I am not 100% against abortion, I just don't get how people are 100% for abortion.

_____

Hmm, some are saying that women shouldn't be forced to have a child, but they also say that a woman shouldn't be forced to have a child in the result of a rape and it is cruel. So if you are saying that a woman shouldn't have a child, the only alternative is to have an abortion. So even though no one is forcing her, the pressure is on her to have an abortion.

How many people looked down on you for your decision not to have an abortion?
I would say that a woman never has the RIGHT to kill her unborn baby. Her body and life and baby belong to God and it's God's decision.

However, I also think that if it is truly a matter of life or death to the mother then she should be allowed to make her choice... she will have to stand before God and give an account.
