If Christians have their way and abortion is only legal in cases of rape, will this system even work?

Say a woman goes up to an abortion clinic and says, “Doc, I was raped a few weeks ago, I’m pregnant and I need an abortion.”

Doc says, “Ok, fine, but I need a court order saying that you were indeed raped.”

Woman says, “It’s going through courts at the moment, the guy who did it left the state and he is being extradited, we should have a verdict in a few months but by then, it will be too late to get an abortion; can you just do it now?”

Doc says, “Sorry, no, I can’t. And you can thank the Christians for this predicament.”

Christians, do you see the point I’m making here?If Christians have their way and abortion is only legal in cases of rape, will this system even work?

Not good enough. Abortion is morally unacceptable, period. There are no exceptions, not even in the case of rape.

It's as fallacious and as morally reckless as every other pro-abortion argument is

The Catholic Church teaches:

2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.

God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.

2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. ';A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae,'; ';by the very commission of the offense,'; and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law. The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

2322 From its conception, the child has the right to life. Direct abortion, that is, abortion willed as an end or as a means, is a ';criminal'; practice (GS 27 § 3), gravely contrary to the moral law. The Church imposes the canonical penalty of excommunication for this crime against human life.

2274 Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being.

Prenatal diagnosis is morally licit, ';if it respects the life and integrity of the embryo and the human fetus and is directed toward its safe guarding or healing as an individual. . . . It is gravely opposed to the moral law when this is done with the thought of possibly inducing an abortion, depending upon the results: a diagnosis must not be the equivalent of a death sentence.';If Christians have their way and abortion is only legal in cases of rape, will this system even work?
Instead of a court order, more likely it would be a record of filing an police complaint. This process takes minutes to hours, not days.

By the way, this is required in cases of anyone under the age of consent. A clinic is supposed to report a pregnancy of an under age girl, as this is evidence of (at best) statutory rape. Several clinics have gotten into legal trouble fo not doing this, as they are effectively becoming an accessory to it.
It doesn't matter....if abortion becomes illegal. People will still get abortions any way they can. and most of the time it would probably be unsafe, and might even hurt or kill the woman invovled.
It pretty much just opens the door for backalley abortions.
tell me if i am wrong, but Christians are supposed to be against abortion period; for ANY reason.
An interesting side issue is whether false rape reports will increase following such legislation...
Why the huff about abortion? You just pining to kill babies? Invest in some birth control and chill.
As I like to say to such pro-lifers:

May the fetus you save be gay!
How about adoption, I think the child would thank you
Abortion is a sin. I can show you true guidence from GOD

Peace be upon you

Bible and previous holy books were modified and corrupted over a period of time by men. He re is the true guidence and a pure unmodified book from GOD ( the only one )

In the name of God, the compassionate, the merciful

Christians are the only religion opposing human rights and persecuting gays, pro choice and so much more - but far worse whilst they demand freedom of religion they deny it to all non Christians and persecute them!!!

Empty vessels always make the most noise.

They have become so extreme that people are leaving the church in increasing numbers each year so they will not be much of a problem in a few years time!!!

But if they insist on forcing their religious views on non believers then they should also allow Muslim punishments on them? That would mean stoning to death any woman that got pregnant with anyone they were not married to!!!

Keep religion out of politics or the consequences will be dire!!!
I see your point.

see, i disagree with abortion completely unless it is caused by incest or proven rape- as in there's a guy in custody or she's beaten or something like that. you know not like where you said it where the woman just walks in the doctors office- she actually has physical proof that she was RAPED. you know?

and if it is a case of incest or rape, then the abortion can only occur before the first two months are up, because after the first two months, the embryo has nerves growing, and if it has nerves and a brain growing, it is living, and if it is living, it feels. after that point- no abortion because it is really alive. if you dont want the kid then put it up for adoption- there are families who cannot get pregnant who want children and right now there's a 6 month waiting list in USA.

but to the stupid teenage girls and young ladies who can't keep their pants on and get pregnant- they need to just have the baby and not just kill it. they could put it up for adoption. when you're old enough top be having sex, then you're old enough to take responsibility for your actions- ALL of them.

there was a teenage girl in my area who came to visit her parents from college, and they weren't home, but she went into labor in their house. she gave birth in their bath tub, put the baby in a bag and hid it in the closet, cleaned up her mess, and took a freakin nap!!! then when her family got home they went shopping.

then she went back to another state, and about 3 weeks later the family found the dead baby.

all because she couldn't keep her pants zipped in college and couldn't take the responsibility.

now tell me that THAT is morally right?
